E-Shram Seva Card: Social Security for India’s Unorganized Workers
The E-Shram Seva Card is a vital initiative by the Ministry of Labour and Employment, designed to bring India’s unorganized workforce under a unified social security system. Workers like daily wage earners, street vendors, construction laborers, domestic helpers, and gig workers can now register themselves to receive a unique 12-digit identification number, ensuring access to government welfare schemes and financial protection.
Once registered, workers are eligible for accident insurance of up to ₹2 lakh under the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, along with future benefits linked to pension, health, and employment programs.
